On the last post I gave you 8 important things that you should know before buy a marble table top, but if you have one at home, you should know that a marble table requires more maintenance than other tables, such as a glass. Whereas the glass table needs some Windex, a marble table needs to be cleaned regularly, and have applications of sealant to ensure that water does not leak through.
There are three predominant types of sealant: topical, penetrating and impregnated. An impregnated sealant is better suited to last against stains and spills. A topical sealant is generally suited for floors, and builds up over time. A penetrating sealant lasts for a much longer time, but costs more than a topical sealant. In addition, a penetrating sealant can help against leaks, but is not as strong as an impregnated sealant.
However, a sealant will not fully protect your marble if you do not have the most important cares, these are 6 tips caring for a marble table:
1)Use coasters consistently
2)If there is a spill, especially something acidic, wipe it up immediately.
3)It is a good option to get a top quality table pad to cover the surface when serving meals.
4)Only use cleaners recommended for marble. Traditional household cleaners that contain chemicals can damage the surface of your marble table or cause a dulling of the finish.
5)Remember to seal your marble as recommended. Not all marbles need sealing. Be sure to ask if it needs to be sealed before you buy a specific piece of marble furniture.
6)Using a mild soap a few times a year is okay, but very warm water and a soft sponge will work just fine for daily cleanings.
Nothing can be compare with the elegance of a marble table top, because it is an excellent addition in any type of room and in fact, a marble table can become a good topic of conversation with your guests. If you have the most important cares, you can have a marble table for a long time and also a marble table will never really go out of style.
